AS DRINON INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT 2017

Dirinon__St_Day_Logo.jpgThis international tournament is hosted every year with many clubs from both National and International clubs across not just Europe, but the world. Since its inception 23 years ago, they’ve now hosted teams from 32 different countries from around the world.

The club look to make their 4th trip to compete in the U13s international tournament in our link club AS Dirinon, France. We will travel by Ferry on Friday 2nd June and return on Mon 5th June 2017. Although as a Youth section of the club we always do nothing during the month of June but this we feel is a very special circumstance and the 4 week rest period will still be applied to everyone. Approx 90 teams collate each year and play across 2 days, some of the teams that enter each year: Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Melbourne Stars (Australia), Rio de Janerio, Atletico Madrid, Paris St German, Inter Milan, Juventus, AS Monaco & FC Porto are to name just a few. Last year Liverpool increased the number of English clubs to attend up to 4; Arsenal, Saltash Utd, First Tower FC from Jersey, St Day AFC before them. The tournament is attended by approx 90 teams and last year on the Sunday the cup final was watched by approx 6,500 people.

We will be leaving St Day AFC at 5:30am on Friday 2nd June when we will travel by minibus to Plymouth Ferry port, before crossing on the 8am Ferry to Roscoff arriving at 1500 local time. From there we will take a 50 minute journey to our Hotel in Brest, which is situated 15 minutes from the Football club. On our return we will leave our Hotel in Brest during the morning of Monday 5th June in order to reach Roscoff in time for the 1500 ferry home. We will arrive at St Day AFC at approximately 10pm on Monday 5th June 2017.

THE DRAW WAS COMPLETED, we are in Group 'P'
1. Plabennec (a national club)
2. Plougastel (a good local club)
3. FA Rade (a local club) - good team who we've played before
4. Dirinon!!! (Good to play our link club on their soil!!!)

We did well to avoid Monaco, Strasbourg and the Brasilians ...It will be for the next round !!!
