ST DAY AFC ANNUAL TOURNAMENTS
THE NEXT TOURNAMENT AT ST DAY AFC IS
SATURDAY 28th & SUNDAY 29th JULY 2018
Every year the club host a weekend of football to honour two great gentleman of the club. We look to host the event around the end of July and invite all local teams both adult and youth to join in the festival style weekend.
The Sheldon Mitchell Tournament. A former manager of the club and father of two former players often seen around the club on a weekly basis, Sheldon was only right to be remembered. We invite all local adult teams to enter our 5 a side tournament of the Sunday from 10am, with games commencing at 10:30am.
The Dave Searle Cup is a more recent tournament and honours our current adult Chairman and Head Groundsman. It commenced in 2014 to celebrate his 50 years service to the club and still serving to this club. Every year we host U7s – U12s on the Saturday and U13s-U15s on the Sunday. Each pitch consist of one league of five or six teams each playing each other with the U8s upwards playing in a semi final and final at the end of the day. This year, 2018, we have put out interest to see if we will run an additional U16s or feed those teams into the adult Sheldon Mitchell Tournament.
A further stalwart of the club is also remembered through the youth section, that of Mr Kerwin Prisk. Kerwin gave 53 years service to the club and was suddenly taken from us back in 2015, we honour his service with the Fair Play Cups. Each team is awarded points out of 100 by the referee and the top scoring team at the end of the league stages is awarded the trophy for 12 months.
